While those who are unfamiliar with motorcycles may see them as all being essentially the same, enthusiasts know better. There are several different types of motorcycles available on the market, each with their own unique features. This can make it very difficult for first-time buyers to find a vehicle that is right for them. That is why the experts at Miller’s Motorsports have created this guide to buying a motorcycle.

Cruisers

Cruisers are great for new riders because their heavy weight makes them extremely stable, though they are sometimes difficult to turn for smaller or inexperienced riders. True to their name, these motorcycles were built for cruising down roads and highways.

Sport Bikes

Sport bikes are built for speed and agility. Sport bikes force their riders to adopt a more hunched and far forward position, which results in greater control at the expense of long-term comfort. While these fast and highly maneuverable bikes are amazing for street riding, newer bikers may have difficulty controlling them.

Touring Motorcycles

Touring motorcycles are built for long-distance rides like road trips. They have heavier frames for greater stability and features like greater storage space and a more comfortable riding position to help support longer rides.

Off-Road Bikes

Dirt bikes are built for off-road adventures and are not street legal. Instead of features like license plate holders and turn signals, these ultralight vehicles sport high-quality suspension systems and tires well suited to off-roading.

Dual-Sport Motorcycles

Dual-sport motorcycles are best if you want a dirt bike that can also be used on paved roads. They are essentially off-road motorcycles that also come with the features necessary to make the bike street-legal. Obviously, this makes them extremely versatile.

Three-Wheeled Motorcycle

Three wheeled motorcycles are much more than a novelty. Trikes offer superior stability and handle more like a commuter vehicle due to their unique design. This makes them good for beginners or those who suffer from conditions that make steering a traditional motorcycle difficult or impossible.
